In this webinar, we examined how much and how Chile is taking advantage of the CPTPP three years after its entry into force, reviewing its impact on the Chilean economy and how it is being used by national exporting companies, especially SMEs. We addressed its value as a rules-based framework for global trade and in the face of the challenges of the digital economy, the state of trade with the bloc, and accumulation of origin and services exports as opportunities still to be explored.
The speakers were Dan Ciuriak, director of Ciuriak Consulting, Inc. and fellow of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada; Felipe Lopeandía, director general of Bilateral Economic Affairs at the Undersecretariat of International Economic Relations (SUBREI); and María Teresa Vial, president of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CCS). They were joined by the diplomat and former Foreign Minister of Chile, Heraldo Muñoz, who shared his experience regarding the signing and ratification of the agreement.
