Chile economy minister signals key role for foreign investment in green push

A BNamericas article highlighting the participation of Chile’s new Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism, Nicolás Grau, in a recent Chile Pacific Foundation webinar to dive into the potential and perspectives for FDI flows in Chile, the region and also globally.

The event brought together representatives from the OECD, the United Nations and the business community: Maurizio Bezzeccheri, head of the Latin America region of Enel Group and General Manager of Enel Americas; Ana Novik, head of the OECD Investment Division; James Zhan, director of Investment and Enterprise UNCTAD; and Fernando Gonzalez, CEO of Cerro Dominador. The event was moderated by Cristián H. Rodríguez-Chiffelle, Luksic Visiting Scholar, Harvard University, and former executive director of InvestChile.

The BNamericas article underscores the minister higlighted the potential of foreign investment flows to boost the country’s transition towards a green economy. BNamericas also notes Grau’s remarks regarding the government’s intention to get the most out of the country’s participation in multilateral bodies, as well as the government’s  views as to the importance of reducing uncertainty.
