Loreto Leyton, executive director of the Chile Pacific Foundation, participated in the AI Mission Chile–California 2026, an innovation mission organized by the Chile California Council, from August 23 to 28. The delegation, composed of nearly 40 leaders and high-level representatives from the public and private sectors, Congress, academia, and civil society, traveled to San Francisco and Silicon Valley to learn firsthand how artificial intelligence is redefining the competitiveness of countries, industries, and organizations.
Over the course of six days, the mission held meetings and working sessions with some of the most influential organizations in California’s technology ecosystem—including the Stanford HAI Institute, OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Tesla—along with a venture capital session at Silicon Valley Bank and a visit to the NASA Ames Research Center. The agenda covered productivity, generative AI, energy, infrastructure, talent, investment, governance, and public policy, with the goal of identifying concrete lessons and opportunities to strengthen Chile’s capabilities and its position in this new technological era.
