How Chile’s relationship with China will evolve

BNamericas article highlighted the interventions of experts convened for a recent webinar by the Chile Pacific Foundation and Inter-American Dialogue, which, among other aspects, addressed how Chile’s relationship with China will evolve. In this regard, according to panelists Juan Gabriel Valdés, Chilean Ambassador to the United States and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile; Ryan Hass, Senior Fellow and Michael H. Armacost Chair of the Foreign Policy Program, Brookings Institution; Adrian Hearn, professor of Latin American Studies at the University of Melbourne; and Paulina Nazal, director of Proamérica and former head of Chile’s General Directorate of International Economic Relations (DIRECON, now SUBREI), “Chile will move towards more focused investments as Beijing enters a new political and economic phase”, noted BNamericas.
